Sam Lafferty is a lifetime resident of Shelby County Kentucky and the Founder of Legacy Farm Service. Sam began his love of agriculture on the family dairy farm. Tending to the needs of a livestock operation taught him patients and respect for the environment. Sam was involved in FFA all four years of high school and is now a lifetime alumni member. Educating the youth about agriculture is something he is very passionate about.

     Involvement with the agriculture seed sales came very early for Sam. In 1998 while a Junior in high school Sam picked up the dealership for Becks Hybrids in his area. The youngest dealer for the company at the time. With his father having been a dealer for Princeton Farms and Becks in the past he knew this was something that would further his agronomy knowledge and relationships with other farmers. Now with 20+ years of sales experience Sam assists farmers in their operation. Helping them choose elite genetics packages and products to help them succeed. 

     Growing up with family involved in the local John Deere dealership allowed Sam to absorb an extensive knowledge of Farm Equipment. Working with equipment and repairs Sam built an interest in the mechanical aspects of agriculture. This led him into pursuing a 10-year stint where he went through a four-year NTMA apprenticeship program and became a journeyman tool and die maker. Performing many different machining operations on diesel engine components, and assembling engines.

     With the Becks dealership growth in sales, the increased need for customer service, and plans to start a family in 2012 Sam left his job and returned home to work at the local John Deere dealership. This allowed him to be closer to home for customer support and start his family.  The Field service technician position that he filled for the next 5 years was very educational on the latest agriculture technologies built into today's farming operations.

     In January 2017 Sam took a leap of faith. With a growing family and more time required to pursue his passions. Sam went full time self employed and began laying the stepping stones for Legacy Farm Service.
